The Training Department Library was set up in 1973 with the objective of being a reference center for marine fisheries and aquatic sciences in the region. It functions as a main supporter for the enhancement of training and research capabilities of the Department. The new TD Library building opened in early 1996 was designed to serve the Department's trainees who are specializing in fishing technology, marine engineering, fishery extension methodology and related sciences also for the technical staff there is also open access to the public for specific purposes. The service hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Official holidays closed)

Library Resources

The library resources consist of approximately 6,000 titles of printed material both from SEAFDEC and other organizations and include technical books, textbooks, serials, annual reports, conference proceedings, statistical reports, bibliographies, directories, journals and other reference books. There are also approximately 1,000 titles of technical audio-visual materials ( video tape and video - CD ) relating to fisheries that are produced by the Training Department and others .

Library Services

Loans of (Books, Journals and Audio-Visual Materials)

Most library materials are available on loan to staff and trainees of the Department. Each user is permitted to borrow 3 books at any one time for one month, 3 copies of journals for one week, 3 pieces

of AV materials for 3 days. Outside users are not permitted to borrow.

Interlibrary –Loans

An interlibrary-loan service is available in the case where the user needs to borrow books from another library. Outside users may borrow books from the TD library through this service by completing a form available from their libraries and signed by the librarian.

Library Databases

Book Database and Audio-Visual Database are provided in both the English and Thai languages for bibliographic information (on-line catalogues) on the TD web site.

Current Awareness Services

A monthly issue of the TD acquisitions list is sent to staff by e-mail and via the notice board.

Document Delivery Services

Photocopying of publications and copying of the audio-visual materials are provided. The service fee is charged inclusive of delivery costs.

Disseminate and Exchange

TD publications are disseminated to and exchanged with the network libraries and the organizations concerning fis
